John Houston was in the Civil War and fought for the Confederate States of American in Georgia. His father, John Gillean and
brothers, Marion Asbury Gillean and James Monroe Gillean also fought in Georgia. His father served one year. Marion Asbury
Gillean and James Monroe Gillean were killed at the end of the war in 1865. He received a Civil War Pension several years
before his death in August of 1922. He brought my great grandmother, Martha Ann Gillean, a little porcelain vase with a flower
on it back from the war and I have that vase in my curio collection.
